NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE TRACK AND STABLE' GOSSIP Of tho 16 foals produced to Yeilmond at the Widden Stud this year, seven are colte. Although Red Manfred and Worohia have been galloping very well. Martara is likely to be preferred for the Bolton Handicap at "Woodville. The two-year-old half-sister by Colossus, to Red Heckle, and Glenavon, trained by F. Christmas for Mr. D. H. Roberts, Greyinouth, has been named Glenogil. When nobodv selects the winners in tho daily totalfsator treble in Calcutta, the amount of the pool is carried forward to the next day's racing. On a recent occasion the amount thus added to the following day's prize-money was £IOSO. Diamond Cutter, who is engaged in the Maiden. Stakes at Woodville on Thursday, made a good impression on the second day at Masterton. He is a three-year-old chestnut colt by Lackbam from Royal Queen and is confidently expected to go well. After four years in the paddock, although it is believed during tho whole of that time he has been quite sound, Kahikatoa, who won the Winter Cup in 1931, has been returned to training, this time under J. H. Jefferd at Ngatarawa. Since she produced Miladi in 1928. each of the foals of tho Paper Money mare Frenzied Finance has died, but better fortune with her colt foal by Lord Warden, bred last week, is liopo.d for. Frienzied Finance is the property of Mr. T. E. Hide.
Horowhenua was given a trial over tho pony hurdles at Ellerslie yesterday, but his display was not- impressive. Hidden by M. Kearns, ho blundered through the first obstacle and showed slight improvement at his next few attempts. Horowhenua will require a good deal more practice beforo ho becomes proficient. In addition to introducing an aspiring light-weight jockey to the Dominion, P. T. Hogan brought back with him a dog of peculiar talent. Finding that a certain breed was in demand in Victoria at 10s lesson as "heelers" to induce thoroughbreds to face the barrier obediently, the South Canterbury trainer acquired a dog for use at Washdyke. Australians in London, seeing a horse called Don Bradman listed in the Grand Sefton Steeplechase, run at Aintrce, speculated a few pounds on him. He dead-heated for. first place after being several lengths behind at the last fence. His remarkable performance makes sure his entry for the Grand National, states the London correspondent of the Sydney Referee, Tho Auckland horseman L. Dulieu will attend tho meetings of tho Taranaki Jockey Club and the Stratford Racing Club during tho holiday period, when he will pilot some of tlfft members of H. Duliou's New Plymouth team. Dulieu intends to make the trip north for the second day of the Auckland Pacing Club's Summer Meeting at Ellerslie.
Keith Voitre, tho noted New Zealand jockey, has become a keen cycling follower. Having his first taste of board track racing the previous week, he presented £1 for the first sprint jn trie Cycling Derbv at tho Melbourne Exhibition Ground recently. 'Lhere was a stampede to seo who would win it. Herb. Guyatt, the young all-rounder from Sale, whs the lucky lad. He is thinking of having the note autographed.
