YEAR'S WORK REVIEWED
PROGRESS IN MANY DIRECTIONS
Some indication of the excellent work carried out by members of the National Reserve Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade was giv<m in the report presented by the divisional secretary, Hon. Sergeant R. Sharp, at a dinner to mark the 20th anniversary of the formation of the division in Auckland, held in the Farmers' Trading Company's reception rooms last evening. Up to November •'(), 1065 men were supplied for (529 different functions this year, and the cases handled by them while on duty totalled 1888. As many as 212 cases were treated by members of the division in a private capacity while not on public duty.
Jn welcoming the visitors Divisional Superintendent F. Davidson referred to the progress made by the division since its formation 20 years ago. The division was directly responsible for the formation of the Otahului and North Shore Ambulance Divisions and it had supplied the nucleus of trained men who founded the Epsom Division. To the National Reserve also belonged the credit of inaugurating the ambulance cadet movement in the Auckland district.
The following toasts were honoured; —"The King," proposed by Divisional Superintendent F. Davidson; " The District and Corps," proposed by Ambulance Officer A. E. Midler, replied to by Commissioner C. J. Tunks; "Supporters of the Division," proposed by Corporal Hanna, replied to by Sergeant-Major G. Keenan; "The Press," proposed by Ambulance Officer Henley.
