CEMENT TRADE DISPUTE
NO AGREEMENT REACHED No agreement was reached after an hour's discussion between cement workers and their employers, before Mr. R. E. Price in conciliation council .yesterday, pnd the main issues concerning wages and hours were referred to the Arbitration Court. The case of workers employed by lime companies was considered at length, extra pay being demanded for burnt lime workers and men engaged in repairing kilns and furnaces when still hot. As the main wages dispute had not been settled, however, it was pointed out by the secretary of the Employers' Association, Mr. W. E. Anderson, that such discussion was of no avail. One of the machinery clauses agreed upon provided for the payment of wages on Thursday, except where mutual agreement provides otherwise.
