PILOT AT LYTTELTON
APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED [by TF.LEGRArH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] IN VERCARGILL, Saturday Advice has been received that Captain A. R. Champion, pilot at Bluff, has been appointed to the position of second pilot at Lyttelton. Captain Champion was educated at the Seddon Memorial Technical College, Auckland, and afterward served his apprenticeship on the barques Itona anil Hewa. He joined the Union Steam Ship Company in 1922 and resigned in l'J2y. In 19;i0 he was appointed chief officer of the Government motor-ship Maui Pomare, and for the last six years has been pilot at Bluif.
