INJURIES PROVE FATAL

LORRY ACCIDENT VICTIM MAORI WITH EIGHT CHILDREN [BY TELEGRArH OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHAXGAREI, Saturday The death occurred at Whangarei Hospital this morning of Mr. Toko Paraha, aged 38, who was critically injured yesterday when the cream lorry in which he was riding overturned at Hikurangi. An inquest was opened by the district coroner, Mr. G. H. Morrish, J.P. Evidence of identification was given by William Paraha, farmer, of Pokapu, a brother of deceased. He said his brother had been farming at Motatau, and was married, with eight children. Dr. J. W. Hall, medical superintendent of the Whangarei Hospital, said that deceased was admitted with a fracture of the skull and injuries to the brain. He died at 3.5 a.m. without regaining consciousness. The cause of death was heart failure, following injuries to the brain. The inquest was adjourned.
