ANNUAL DINNER
FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLUBS The annual dinner of the Council of Foreign Language . Clubs, Auckland, was held in the Overseas League Rooms, Queen's Arcade, on Saturday night. The guests were received in the lounge by the president, Mr. O.J. Thedens and Mrs. Thedens. The lounge was effectively decorated with Christmas lilies, tall stands of gladioli and rose and white Isrkspttis. j/rs. Thedens was wearing a frock of blue and rose floral chiffon. A picturesque note was given to the gathering by the colourful national costumes which were worn by Mrs. Buchan, who re-, presented Italy, Miss Bunell, Sweden, Miss L. Thomas:. Austria. Miss. 1* J. Yates, Germany, and Mrs. Jakich anu Miss Nola Jakich, Yugoslavia. In extending a welcome to the guests, Mr. Thedens referred to the fact that 14 different nationalities were represented at the function. e also spoke of the suggested formation of a new international club in Auckland. Brief addresses weie given by Mr Walter Bovle, Professor K. 31. Algie and Mr. G. Moreno.. Interspersed with the addresses were items by the Yugoslav Tamburica Orchestra and a Spanish dance by Miss Norali 0 Halloran. , •.«„ Among those present were— -Ms. Walter Bovle, Mrs. C. M. IS> R M.
