PLUNKET SOCIETY FAIR
FOOD VALUED FEATURED MENUS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN A party tabic for children, set with attractive yet wholesome dainties which were carefully chosen for their nutritious value, was a feature of the fair held on Saturday afternoon by Auckland Plunket nurses. The function, which took place at the association's headquarters in Symonds Street was opened by Mrs. J. C. Allan, president of the Auckland Plunket Society A largo number of mothers and their friends were present. The proceeds will go toward funds for the extension of the mothercraft training section. ,
Suggested menus for young children were on view, milk to drink daily and raw apples being an important of the diet. The association is anxious to point out to mothers attractive ways of serving wholesome food, and adrocatos raw fruit or vegetable salads daily, as well as the use of whole cereals. Sun suits for home play and the correct clothing for young children were also shown in this part of the exhibition, while Karitane trainees demonstrated the correct way in which to bath a baby. Another section of the display showed photographs of the many branches of the association, and diagrams of the way in which it had extended throughout the Empire. In the work section many attractive toys and garments for small folk were among the things made by mothers belonging to the association. A fancy section was well patronised by Christmas shoppers. Mothers from outlying suburbs hd contributed generously to the produce section.
The sister in charge of the fair wag Miss H. Chapman. Mrs. T. Clifton Webb, convener of the afternoon tea arrangements, was assisted by Mrs. H. Kirker. Mrs. Bruce MacKenzie, Mrs. J. Frater, Mrs. A. Donald, Mrs. Donaid Ogilvie, Mrs. Dawson and Mrs. Worrall. Those in charge of the stalls -
were as follows:—Work, Mrs. 11. Chapman, Miss J. Campbell; toys, Miss G. Cunningham, Miss M. Peicocke; cakes, Miss E. Palmer, Miss J. Montgomery; produce, Miss E. Stronach, Miss M. Carmichael: flowers, Miss I. Johnson; ices and fruit, Miss S. Norris, Miss F. Carmichael; mothercraft, Miss Joan Carmichael, and assisted by Miss Walbran. An exhibition of poi dances by gir!» from the Queen Victoria College wat much enjoyed.
