INTER-CLUB COMPETITIONS Rain prevented play in the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association's inter-club competitions set down for decision on Saturday, but a few isolated matches were played, in a third grade contest West End defeated Unity by eight games to two. FACTORY ASSOCIATION Following are the results of matches played on Saturday in the Fa-ctory Lawn Tennis Association's Griffiths Cup competition:— Empire Box beat Uomo Brace, B—2;8 —2; Collins Brothers heat Amblers, 7—3. FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION [ I'ltOSl OUlt OWN COIUUISI'ONDKNt] PUK KKOfIE, Sunday The rain yesterday afternoon was annoying to tennis players in the Franklin district, as it prevented them completing competition matches for the second Saturday in succession. A day's matches in all grades under the Franklin Lawn Tennis Association had been set down for the previous Saturday, but had to he postponed a week owing to the rain then. Yesterday a I'nkekoho team went to Onewhero and another to Waiiiku, having travelled over 10 miles for a match and so there was disappointment at being unable to go through with the play owing to rain again. As the fall was steady, and there was an absence of wind, some of the holder spirits continued playing for about an hour, but eventually desisted, wet through. The games have all been postponed for a further fortnight, as another series of matches intervenes next Saturday. MILLS CUP COMPETITION [I'HOM Ol'lt OWN" COKIIKSI'ONDKNT] THAMES, Sunday Waihi tennis players visited Thames yesterday to compete for the Mills Cup. Play had to he abandoned early, owing to rain.
