Two half-crowns and a florin were tlien marked by him, and when they disappeared on December .4 the police were notified. Mr. Aekins said the accused came from Hamilton, and was unable to account for having taken the money. If given a chance on probation she was willing to make restitution, as she was sorry for what she had done. She had been quite truthful in order to clear up the matter, and she had never been in Court before.

"Stealing from an employer is always a more serious offence than common theft," said the magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, in passing sentence of seven days' imprisonment.
