DEAD FISH A MENACE

FIRE AT RUM DISTILLERY DROP IN COMPANY'S SHARES BRISBANE, Nov. 24 Fish which have been killed by the pollution of the Burnett River by rum and methylated spirit from the distilkiry fire at Bundaberg are becoming a menace. The river banks are strewn with tens of thousands of dead fish weighing up to 601b., and, including a number of sharks.

Officials of the Millaquin Sugar Company, which has the controlling interest in the distillery, are not concerned about the drop in the value of the company's shares. They point out that the insurance projects' the shareholders' dividends by including in the indemnity the firm's profits and standing charges for the full term of one year after any fire loss.
