The car, which was driven by Miss E. A. S. Mclndoe, with Misses W. F«. Sutton and M. D. Connon and Mr. S. D. Goldsmith as passengers, was travelling toward Auckland, when the st«r-ing-gear failed. The vehicle ran ofi the road, crashed through a low stone wall, and capsized into the adjoining paddock, about 6ft. below the highway level.

Passers-by who ran to help were surprised to find the four occupants scrambling from the wreckage, unhurt but considerably shaken.
