CONSTABLE STRUCK

LABOURER FINED £5 Charged with striking a constable, William Gunson, labourer, aged 31 (Mr. Aekir.s), pleaded guilty in tho Police Court yesterday. While Constable Finch was arresting a man for drunkenness 011 Saturday, accused gave some assistance to the prisoner, said Sub-Inspector Fox. He did his best to get the man away, and it was only with difficulty that the prisoner was placed in a taxi. Accused was then arrested by Constable McKinne.v. Mr. Aekins said his client had been drinking heavily and foolishly interfered. The magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, imposed a fine of £5, in default 14 days' imprisonment.
