SHED FOR BICYCLES

PROVISION AT OTAHUHU Advice that the Railway Department has decided to erect at the Otnhuhu station a shed for the storage of bicycles of train-users has been received by Mr. C. K. Petrie, M.P. for Hauraki. Representations were made to tlie Minister of Railways, the Hon. I). Sullivan, by Mr. Petrie at the reqnest of the Otnhuhu Borough Council recently. It was pointed out that numerous city workers cycled to connect with the suburban trains and had to leave their bicycles in the open. Losses had been incurred by the owners both on account of exposure to the weather find petty pilfering. The Minister advised that a shed would be erected under the overhead bridge at the entrance end. In order to cover the department's costs a nominal charge of 2s n quarter would I* enforced for each cycle, but the department would not be in a position to accept any responsibility, having regard to the conditions under which the bicycles would be stored.
