FORMERLY IN SILENT FILMS BODY WASHED ASHORE (Received November IS, 0.5 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 The bod} - of John Bowers, a former silent film actor, was washed ashore to-day. Bowers was despondent because of his loss of fame and committed suicide in the way he wished, according to a friend, by taking a small boat and "sailing into the sunset." John Bowers was born in 1801 in Indiana and made his first appearance on the .stage at tlie age of IS.MIe took up film work some years later and played several important roles. married Marguerite de la Motto iu 192 G.
