BIBLE SOCIETY'S WORK
FRESH RECORDS MADE Fresh records have been achieved by the British and Foreign Bible Society this year in its vast enterprise of the circulation of the Scriptures throughout! the world. Tho list of languages or dialects in which tho society has published or circulated the Scriptures has now reached 705. A total of 1],086,1.'5L volumes of Scripture were circulated, this being an advance of 715,522 copies over tho previous year. Jn addition to its oilicial report the society always issues a more brief popular report, which has won very high repute both for its literary excellence and for the attractiveness of tho form of its production, in this year's little illustrated volume, entitled "The Flowing Tide," the society's literary superintendent, the Rev. John A. Patten, has fully maintained the high standard set in past years. Financially it is recorded with some regret that, while income for the past year amounted to £372,418, tho expenditure was £.'!!).'!,U!)B, leaving a deficit of £21,580. This was mainly duo to the large increase in circulation.
