MUSEUM DISPLAYS

EXCHANGE OF EXHIBITS CARNEGIE FUND'S WORK The first of a scries of exhibitions made possible by the generosity of the Carnegie Corporation is being shown at the Auckland "War Memorial Museum. It comprises a display showing the uses of shellfish, arranged by the conchologist, Mr. A. W. B. Powell. The curator, Mr. G. Areliey, said at a meeting of the Museum Council yesterday, that interchangeable displays had been provided from the special grant of the Carnegie Corporation. Kach of eight museums in New Zealand had received a standard-sized case and each was making a display which at the end of this month would be transferred to another museum. At the end of another six weeks a further exchange would be made, so that the displays would circulate throughout the country. The Carnegie Corporation was providing both the cases and funds for the transport of exhibits. When the present exhibit is removed at the end of the month it will bo replaced by a display of Maori tattooing from Napier.
