TITLED VISITOR
VISCOUNT DILLON ARRIVES DISTINGUISHED ARMY CAREER [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Wednesday On a. health recruiting visit to New Zealand, Viscount Dillon, C.M.G., D.5.0., and Viscountess Dillon arrived from Sydney to-day. They are proceeding to ther South Island to visit Mr. Frank Dillon, of Mnrlborough, who is Viscount Dillon's cousin. They will remain in tho Dominion for about six weeks. Viscount Dillon said he was very keen 011 hunting, but also liked fishing and shooting, and wanted to catch some New Zealand trout. "I would like also to shoot some of your big stags," he said. Viscount Dillon retired from the Army with tho rank of colonel in 1925 and succeeded to the title, which goes back to 1622, on the death of his brother in 1934. The present viscount, who was born in 1881, entered the Army in 1899 and served in tho South African War. In 1912 he was appointed general staff officer, third grade, at the War Office, and he served in the European War, being awarded tho C.M.G. (military) and D.5.0., and being mentioned seven times in despatches. After tho war he was appointed general staff officer, first grade, with , the British Army of tho Rhine and later at Aldershot, and from 1923 to 1925 ho was military assistant to tho Chief of the Imperial General Staff. Ho was appointed in 1930 as one of His Majesty's Bodyguard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms.
