NEW SOUTH WALES

FILLING THE VACANCY CONSIDERATION IN HAND LONDON, Nov. i) There is not likely to be any delay in choosing a successor to the late Sir Mi irray Anderson as Governor of New South Wales. The Sun news service says it understands that the position has been under examination for a considerable time, A distinguished retired admiral, who was a prospective candidate, found that his many interests in England would not permit of his lengthy absence, and the possibility exists that an outstanding younger man may be selected. The policy lately has been to secure such men, if available, and it has been very successful, as shown by the work of Lord Somers, when Governor of Victoria, and Lord Erskine and Lord Brabourne, the present Governors of Madras and Bombay respectively.
