NORTHCOTE BOROUGH
The Government housing scheme was referred to at a meeting of the Northeoto Uorough Council la«t night. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, said that on August 31 there were only four empty houses at Northcote. In August a resolution was carried that it was not the intention of tho council to consider a building programme. The representative of the No. 2 District Highways Council, Mr. K. S. Dyson, advised that the introduction of the «State arterial system would entail extra financial comiuitments against the main highways account, and additional highways could not bo approved this year.
