NEW LABOUR DISTRICT

BAY OF PLENTY AREA [from Oflt OWN COHHF.SPON'DKNT] HAMILTON, Tuesday Portions of the Auckland and Hamilton districts controlled by the Labour Department are being formed into a new district, with headquarters at Tauranga. The new district takes in Thames, which is at present in the Auckland district, and Waihi, Tauranga, Whakatane and Opotiki, at present in the Hamilton district. Rotorua will still be controlled from Hamilton. Mr. H. E. Moston, chief inspector of factories, has just completed a survey of tho new area, and finds that tho agitation for a separate district, which has been made over an extended period, is fully justified. The area has a population of 19,000, and within its boundaries there are SOU shops and 400 factories. The officer to take charge of the new district has not yet been selected, but an appointment will be made shortly.
