FINAL TRIBUTES PAID AN IMPRESSIVE GATHERING [by telegraph—press association] HASTINGS, Monday Over 1000 Maoris and pakehas participated yesterday at Pakipaki in the concluding stages of the tangi and funeral ceremonies following the death of Chieftainess Pukepuke Tongiora Mohi, the gathering being one of the biggest of the kind held in the district for a number of years. The native population of the whoie of the North Island was represented, many tribes having strong representation. In addition there was a big quota of European representatives from all parts of the province. The proceedings were conducted by Ratana Church members, the service being held at the Pakipaki Church, which was given to the Maoris of the district by the late chieftainess. The body Avas interred in the native burial ground.
