PROFESSIONAL GOLFERS
MATCH AT CHRISTCHURCH SHAW BEATS C. CLEMENTS [by telegraph—press association] CHBISTCIIUItCH, Monday The Russley professional, C. C. Clements, and the New Zealand open champion, A. J. Shaw, met over 18 holes at Russley yesterday. Ihis was their first meeting since the two mot in tho final of tho professional championship at New Plymouth last month, when Clements was the winner. Shaw was in Christchurch as a holiday visitor and did not bring his clubs, but he was fitted out by a Russley member for yesterday's game. Clements, who had had no p'«iy since his return from tho championship was out of touch with his clubs in the first half, which ended with tho local man 3 down, and with Shaw ono under bogey. The second half was a much moro even game, fluctuating up to tho last green, where Clements holed a chip for a birdio three, to finish 2 down. The match was without many highlights. Both played, very steadily, and at most holes bogey figures sufficed only for a half.
