A newcomer to Ellerslie is a three-year-old gelding by Vaals from a mare by Polydamon from Jena, who is under the care of N. Prenter. He is a good type. T. Yates, who formerly trained Cardinal Moon at Trentham. will "be responsible for the preparation of Rona Bay in future. Rona Bay will remain at Trentham find her rider in the Now Zealand Cuo will he C. G. Goulsbro.

Wall Street improved measurably on his first day's form at Gore to beat the winner of the Spring Handicap, Travonna, by a short head in the Waikaka Handicap. He should be able to continue that improvement for tho remainder of tho year.

At tho request of the stipendiary steward, the committee of the Gore Racing Club last Monday considered the position arising as tho result of Linguist having run third to Ballad and Bay Biddy in tho Waimea Handicap. As Linguist had not been trained by a licensed trainer, third money was awarded to Henry Dawson, who hud run fourth.

Tho Ellerslie trainer R. S. Bagby returned home after tho Wellington meeting at Trentham, but he has gone south again to complete Master Brierly's preparation for the New Zealand Cup. Master Brierly demonstrated that he was regaining form by his forward running at Trentham and the fact that he is a genuine stayer will cause him to be strongly supported in his Cup engagement, in which ho will again bo ridden by P. Atkins.
