EGYPT JOINS SERVICE ALEXANDRIA, Oct. 7 ■ Egypt has decided to participate in tho Empire air mail service. Tho Government will pay Britain, through Imperial Airways, the sum of £22,500. Egyptian mails addressed to other countries will be carried at about the same rate as at present is paid for ordinary mail. , REQUEST TO BRITAIN CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE r LONDON, Oct. 7 The Daily Telegraph, in commenting on the discussions by the Chambers of Commerce conference in New Zealand, of air services, says the British Government might reply that the conference was knocking on an open door. Tho good deal asked for was already in a fair way to completion. Ground organisation for swifter and more frequent services to tho Cape, India and Australia would be ready before long and the stations would be lit every night. "Tho conference naturally hopes for more than twice-weekly services," adds the paper, "but daily flights are not a practical proposition at present. When planned services aro running, the Empire's mileage will surpass even that of America."
