IMPROVEMENT OF STATUS ASSOCIATION FORMED [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The first annual conference of hospital engineers from all parts of New Zealand was hold in Wellington yesterday to form the Public Hospital Engineers' Association. Mr. F. C. Jacobs (Auckland) presided over an attendance of 14 delegates. The association was formed with the twofold idea of improving the status of hospital engineers and of making available to every hospital board in the Dominion, whether it employs an engineer or not", tho accumulated knowledge and experience of all its members. A problems committee was formed to deal with any question likely to arise iti the profession, which has a great deal of work ahead of it in the near future' owing to the hospital buildings to bo erected in many parts of tho Dominion. In future tho conference will be held annually at the same time and place as the conference of hospital boards. Tho association has tho full approval of tho Minister of Health and the heads of his department. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. Jacobs; vicepresidents, Messrs. T. Gray (Wellington) and Gormack (Balclutha); secretary, Mr. Martin Smith (Hawera); committee, Messrs. vj. Marnier (New Plymouth), F. Harrison (Wanganui) and G. Sandes (Napier).
