Sir, —Wo hoar quite a lot of complaints about the high price of oranges, but no one seems to take up the cudgels on behalf of the apple grower, who*e fruit is being sold at low prices while the public's attention is turned toward imported fruit. Ah apple a day keops the doctor away is a phrase coined many years ago, and no one can ever possibly dispute the fact that apples are the best fruit, and indeed one of the best foods, that can be taken to the home. New Zealanders would be well advised to cat more apples, as in doing so they are not only enjoying healthful fruit, but also supporting local fruitgrowers. Granny Smith.
