NORTHCOTE BOROUGH
The consulting engineer to the Northcote Borough Council, Mr. A. Grcville Walker, reported to the council last night that the contract for the reconstruction of the Onewa Road section of the main northern highway had been completed, with the exception of the second sealing coat. It was decided to purchase four military gas masks for the Northcote Fire Brigade. The Transport Department is to be recommended to prohibit double-bank-ing on bicycles and to limit the weight for trade bicycles to 561b. The waterworks engineer reported that the surface of Lake Pupuke had risen ljin. to 3ft. 3in. below high-tide level.
