LABOUR'S LEGISLATION

REVIEW BY MR. BARCLAY [from OUII OWN* correspondent] WELLSFORD, Tuesday There was a large attendance at the Wellsford Public Hall last evening, when Mr. J. G. Barclay, M.P. for Marsden, addressed a public meeting on tho legislation passed by the Labour Government with special reference to that relating to the dairy industry. Mr. W. I?. Grant presided. There was a good deal of interjection, largely good humoured. Mr, Barclay said he had been coopted to assist the Minister of Marketing as regards the dairy industry. Dealing with education he said he had received a number of applications for the establishment of consolidated schools in the Marsden electorate. Mr. Barclay was occupied for over an hour in answering questions. The questions were mainly to do with the wages of farm labour, increased costs to the dairy industry, and the financing of dairy produce sales. He emphasised the fact that the Government had established a committee to consider the increased costs to the dairy industry and that in fixing the guaranteed price next season an allowance would bo made to cover the increased costs on the farm and in the dairy factories.
