MANUFACTURERS' ATTITUDE PROVISIONAL ACCEPTANCE A provisional acceptance of tho Industrial Efficiency Bill was decided on with only one dissentient at a meeting of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association yesterday afternoon. Tho president, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, presided over an attendance of about SO members. After discussion, a resolution was adopted in the following terms."That the Industrial Efficiency Bill bo accepted, provided it is so amended that no plan, or amendment to plan, shall be operative unless endorsed by a reasonable majority of the industry affected, such majority to be determined by value of output, and, further, that the Government be urged to provide in the legislation itself for compensating any person displaced as a icsult of its operation." POSTPONEMENT URGED TIME FOR CONSIDERATION [by TELEGRAPH —riIESS association] WELLINGTON, Friday The Industrial Efficiency Bill was considered yesterday by a fully representative meeting of delegates from the chambers of commerce in New Zealand. The following resolution was unanimously carried: —"I hat in the opinion of the New Zealand delegates to the 14th congress of the Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire, the Industrial Efficiency Bill is of such a farreaching character that this meeting stronglv urges on the Government tho postponement of its consideration until tho next session, so as to give time for consideration by all tho interests concerned."
