NEW HOME OCCUPIED MARLBOROUGH HOUSE DEPARTURE FROM PALACE LONDON, Oct. I Queen Mary left Buckingham Palace after luncheon to-day, to take up her permanent residence in Marlborough House, where her personal standard was hoisted. The King accompanied his mother to her new residence. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, Marlborough House was built in 1709 for the Duke of Marlborough at a cost of £50,000. Among notable occupants were the Queen-Dowager Adelaide, widow of William IV., and Prince Leopold, later first King of the Belgians. King Edward VII., King George and the present King each resided at Marlborough House as Prince of Wales. . The structure, which is of red brick, is four storeys high and stands in four acres of grounds between Pall Mull and the Mall.
