AMENDED BILL FRENCH HOUSES ADOPT BANK RATE LOWERED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, (Received October 2, 11.'>■"> p.m.) PARIS, Oct, 1 The Senate to-day, by a show of hands, adejpted tho Devaluation Bill as radically amended by its Finance Committee, the changes involving the exclusion of the compensation clauses. The bill was returned to the Chamber of Deputies, the Finance Committee of which agreed to the Senate's compromise. The Chamber thereupon adopted the bill as it stood by 351 votes to 217. Speaking on the Government's intentions tho Minister of finance, M. Auriol, said: "We are working for a new compromise bill to make possible an agreement between the Chamber and the Senate providing that no decision will he made regarding wages or prices without the approval of the National Economic Council, also specially providing for compensation for oxsen icemen." The Senate's compromise invests the Prime .Minister, M. Blum, with authority to suppress unreasonable advances in prices. It is officially announced from Vienna that the Austrian schilling will not be devalued. The hank rate has been reduced to 3 i>er cent from 5 per cent, the rate announced on September 21.
