AN AMERICAN COMEDY

IRISH ARTIST'S ADVENTURES Macgregor was a provincial town in the United States of America. Into it 0110 day came an Irish artist, Solly O'Brien. In an attempt to revivo its culture he borrowed fifty dollars and started a literary review, a very "highbrow" publication. As other and greater men have found before him, the establishment of a review devoted to the arts is a delicate and tricky business, even when backed by more than fifty dollars. Solly was very soon in trouble. Advertisements were difficult to collect, the landlord was forever demanding the rent, and the printer was a shrewd businessman. In fact everything went awry. Solly, however, had the good fortune to lose his temper with the sales manager of the book section of a huge store. The manager was impressed. Immediately he bought a hundred copies of the now magazine and started the ball rolling. " Paper Kingdom," is quite witty and is pleasantly written. The reader follows with delight tbo vicissitudes of the journal's career, while Mr. Bishop's irreverent descriptions of American business men and methods is entertaining. " Taper Kingdom," by Leslie Bishop. (Jleineniiinn.)
