SOCIAL EVENING

INSTITUTE OF SECRETARIES A social evening was held yesterday by Auckland members of the New Zealand Division of the Australasian Institute of Secretaries, in the Fabian clubrooins, when dancing and items wero enjoyed by those present. The rooms wero attractively decorated with golden broom, acacia, and tiger lilies. The guests wero received by the president, Mr. Nello Porter, and Mrs. Porter, the latter wearing a gown of black souple satin and taffetas worn with a spray of cyclamen. The wives of New Zealand Division councillors who were present were Mrs. Leonard Knight (wife of the divisional secretary), who was in scarlet and white patterned georgette; Mrs. H. E. Strickott, in peach pink lace and georgette; Mrs. D. M. Chambers, black souple satin; and Mrs. T. H. C. Dawson, midnight blue crepe de chine. The programme included violin solos by Miss Ida Lockwood, piano solos by Mrs. Charles Prime, humorous items by Mr. Charles Prime and Mr. Dan Flood, recitations by Mrs. Jock Allen, songs by Mr. Reg. Richards, a play. "Going to the Talkies," (Beverley Nicnolls), in which the parts were taken by Miss Joy Crosher and Mrs. Nello Porter: a sketch by Mrs. Wallace Smith and Mr. Jack Parsons; and songs by Miss Verna Wishart. Others who were present were:—Mrs. Norman Hayward, who wore pastel nmk georgette; Mrs. K. H. Alelvin, chalk white embossed velvet; Mrs. 8. G. Kervev, marine blue cire satin; Mrs. W. Hedditch, black lace and georgette; Mrs. Gordon Dearing, beech brown souplo satin; Mrs. J. Freer, spindleberry red corded crepe; Mrs. Victor Williams, honey-tinted self-striped crepe; Mrs. H. *G. Thompson, black ring velvet; Mrs. Jock Allen, mulberry taffetas and gold lame; Mrs. Charles Prime, leaf green and brown shot taffetas; Mrs. H. Dyer, navv coinspotted taffetas; Mrs. A. G. Fogerty, j black georgette; Miss Flora Chifwell, orange and blue flowered georgette and silver lame; Miss Joy Crosher, petal pink and mauve shot taffetas; Misc Alison Hooker (Hamilton), black velvet and gold lame tunic frock and Miss Ida Lockwood, black ring velvet.
