Prebtye, M.A., the new vicar of Pukekohe, in the Masonic Hall - last evening, and was attended by about 200 people. The churchwarden, Mr. G. Haslam, presided, items were given, after which the Mayor, Mr. C. K. Lawrio, extended greetings to Mr. Prebble on behalf of the borough. An appeal for the wholehearted support of parishioners for the new vicar was made by Mr. E. D. Wilkinson, representative of the parish on the Diocesan Synod, and best wishes for a successful ministry were expressed by the Rev. J. Pattison (Presbyterian), and the Rev. H. H. Jeifroys (Methodist). Mr. Jeffreys mentioned that in the past 40 years, Pukekohe had had only two vicars, a precedent which gave promise of a long stay at Pukekohe for Mr. Prebble.
