CHURCH ANNIVERSARY

ST. MARY'S SERVICES Services to mark the 76th anniversary of the dedication of St. Mary's Cathedral will be held to-morrow. Archbishop Avcrill will conduct a confirmation service iri the evening. The first St. Mary's was built by Bishop Sclwyn who. with Bishop Patte6on, used to take the services. Bishop Sclwyn himself planted the magnificent oak tree that stands near the gateways. The church has just received from a Lichfield woman who passed through Auckland earlier in the year, a photograph of Sclwyn's tomb in Lichfield Cathedral. It will be hung in the vestrj.
