MINING DISPUTE
BROKEN HILL STRIKE FOUR THOUSAND MEN IDLE (Received October 1, 1.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, flept. SO According to a report received in Sydney, all the principal mines at Broken Hill are idle, 4000 men being oil strike owing to the dismissal of a man employed at the South Broken Hill mine. The miner refused to work singlehanded a new type of machine on which, according to the rules of his union, two men should be employed.
