The appellant was Mr. Roy Langford, a theatreman with a hobby that has become almost a passion. He collects clothes, ancient and modern, . elegant and dowdy, as long as they have true character "and historic significance. During tho past seven years, in tho intervals of theatrical production, ho and one or two fellow sartorialists have amassed a collection of over 700 costumes of all periods from the sixteenth century onwards. Particularly fine examples of the First Empire aro among them, and many of tho eighteenth century specimens are complete toilettes with their wigs, fans, and other accessories.
