CONTEST ON MONDAY NEXT GEORGE'S FIRST APPEARANCE Ed Don George, former heavy-weight wrestling champion of the world, will make his first appearance in a New Zealand ring fit the Town Hall next Monday night. Tho importation of George is regarded as ihe most ambitious step yet taken by the Dominion Wrestling Union, for this mat star is at the height of his career and is in strong demand all over America. New Zealanders are particularly interested in him, as he was responsible for Earl McCready being eliminated from tho 1028 Olympic Games at Amsterdam. In the past six or seven years George has wrestled almost exclusively with the best men in the sport, and he has a record that is second to none. Not only that, but there are few, if any, wrestlers with greater drawing power, and last year -10,000 poople paid <>o.ooo dollars to Hee his bout with Dan O'Mahoney at Boston. This was the biggest American wrestling "gate" of last year, being well above tho 35,000 dollars paid at the Londos-O'Mahoney match, which was the next biggest. George has had somp great battles with Jim Londos and shared with the late Jim Browning the distinction of being ranked above (he Greek among the world's greatest wrestlers. He is about in stone in weight and works with remarkable speed and science.
