OFFICIAL OPENINGS MOUNT ROSKILL CLUB Fine weather prevailed for the official opening ceremony of the Mount Roskill Lawn Tennis Club. There was a largo attendance of members and visitors. Speeches were made by the president, Mr. Miller, the patron, Mrs. Kothcr, and Messrs. F C. Ellis and*McCullough. Mr. Ellis represented the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. A pleasant feature of the afternoon was the presentation to the club by Mrs. Kother of a silver cup. dedicated to the memory of the late Mr. Kother, who was patron for several years. The trophy will be competed for annuallv by members of the club. The playing of the first ball was performed by Mrs. Millar. A social was held in the evening. W.Y.M.L CLUB'S FUNCTION The official openim? ceremony of the Weslev Yoiirif? Men's Institute Tennis Club was favoured by fine weather. There was a largo attendance of members, friends and visitors. Prior to declaring the courts open for play, the president, Rev. E. T. Olds, traced the history of the club, and expressed satisfaction that the maximum membership of <lO had been secured. . A progressive tournament conducted during the afternoon was won by Miss N. M. Hickling and E. W. Struckett. RIVERHEAD CLUB The report presented at the annual meeting of tSo Riverhead Tennis Club stated that the membership totalled (>r>. During the season a new court was laid down, while other improvements were made possible by the efTorts of the social committee, which raised cut). The balance-sheet disclosed a sound position. The following officers were elected President, Mr. A. A. Levy; vico-presidents, Messrs. P. Langard, sen., R. Gould, P. Pook and F. Ball; secretary, Mr. N. McMillan; assistant secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. C. Hall; captain, fir. (J. Hall; vice-captain. Mr. It flail; committee, Messrs. A. Burr, R. Oould. Alan Winchester, Alexander Winchester, E. Ellices, C. Hall, 0. King, I. Pook and W. Pook; delegates to the Kaipara Subassociation, Messrs. R. Hall, N. McMillan. It was agreed to enter teams in the A and I! grade competitions of the Kaipara Sub-association.
