HEALTH STAMP CAMPAIGN

ALLOCATION OF PROCEEDS WHANGAREI COUNCIL'S QUERY [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Wednesday The Whangarei Borough Council at its meeting on Monday decided to ask the Director-General of Post and Telegraphs what amount of the money collected in Whangarei in connection with the health stamp campaign had been spent on the children of the Whangarei district, and where it had been spent. When the council was considering a request from the department that the council should again assist the campaign in this year's collection, Mr. A. T. Brainsby asked what amount was spent in the district from last year's collection, and where. The department had stated in its letter that money raised in anv district would be spent on the children of that district. The Mayor, Mr. W. Jones: The late postmaster informed me that all moneys collected in this district would be spent in this district. I have never heard of any money being spent here. The question was raised last year when the council contributed to last year's appeal. 1 will not complain, however, if the money contributed by us will bring sunshine to children in any district. It was decided to hold over the request in the meantime.
