TAXATION CONCESSION

FLOOD DAMAGE TO FARMS COST DEDUCTIBLE FROM INCOME [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Wednesday "Where property is subject to continually recurring floods the cost of repairing the damage caused by such floods is, for taxation purposes, allowable as a deduction from the farmer's gross income," stated the Commissioner of Employment in a letter to the Whangarei sub-provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union at its quarterly meeting yesterday. The president, Mr. A. Briscoe Moore, said it was very gratifying that the executive's repeated representations to the Government had resulted in the decision conveyed by the commissioner.
