SAEAZEN'S "VICTORY CENTENARY OPEN TITLE BRILLIANT FORM SHOWN By_Telegraph—Prtss Association—Copyright (Received September 13, 0.5 p.m.) ADELAIDE, Sept. 13 The American golfer Gene Sarazen won the centenary open golf championship yesterday with an aggregate score of 283. He equalled the best 'Australian score for 72 holes on the championship course. G. von. Nida and Fergus McMahon tied for second place. They were 10 strokes behind Sarazen. Sarazen broke tho previous course record of 69 with au outward round of 6S yesterday morning, and in his last round he broke the local record for four rounds. In his four rounds Sarazen scored 74, 70, 68 and 71. The par for the course is 73. There was a monotonous brilliance about his golf and his short game and putting .were :superb. Sarazen himself confessed that he was delighted with his form as the Seaton .'.course at the'".outset appeared'to be "difficult. He said 'he felt justified in saying that his score of 283 was quite equal to Tony Manero's 282 at Baltusrol when ho won this year's American open championship. GAME IN BRITAIN NORTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP LONDON, Sept. 31 Percy Allis won the northern opeji golf championship at Heysham to-day with a record aggregate of 277. Cotton was second with 282.
