WARDER MURDERED
FRENCH CONVICTS' ESCAPE ARRESTS IN SWITZERLAND (Received September 13, 0.35 p.m.) PARIS, Sept. 12 A message from Annecy states that prisoners strangled a warder and escaped from the prison there into Switzerland where three were arrested at Feterne without offering resistance. The ringleader, who had unscrewed the lock of his cell door, knocked a warder and took his keys. He then released three of his fellow convicts who, like himself, were serving life sentences for the attempted murder of a woman tobacconist. The warder recovered and tried to raise the alarm, but the convicts choked him with a leather strap. The.v went to a common cell and released one of tho 10 prisoners.
