NEW SPEED RECORDS

BRITISH RACING DRIVER ACCIDENT NARROWLY AVERTED (Received September 13, 6.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 12 A message from Bonneville, Utah, states that the British racing driver, Mr. John Cobb, to-day established eight world records on the completion of a 24-hour run over the Serset speedway. His average speed was 150.1629 miles an hour. Seven other records were also established. Near the end of the run, Mr. Cobb almost met with disaster when his heavy Napier-Railton car skidded on two wheels. For a moment an accident appeared to be inevitable, but he managed to right the machine and continue. ____________
