t;;: ■') SECOND DAY'S RESULTS 7WO SURPRISE VICTORIES DELRAIN captures handicap DEFICIT SCORES IN GUINEAS Surprise wins by Delrain and Deficit jn the Higgle Handicap and the Wangauui Guineas, respectively, were features of the second day of the Wanganui Jockey Club's Spring Meeting on Sat- - ' ■urday. First favourites again fared 7 badly, Surella being the only one to score, but 110 fewer than three second fancies, Lucid us, Mandamus «ind Wotan, were victorious. Three Atickland horses, Lucidus, Delrain and Surella, were successful, and , Royal Secret, who is trained at New Plymouth by Li. Dulieu for the Te Arohn I owner, Mr. E. G. Gardiner, repeated her first day's success by scoring again in the Owon Handicap. The track was \i'*l easy after rain the previous day. The attendance was good and the • totrtlisator handled £15,653, compared with £12,109 on the second day last year.
