SAVOLDI TO MEET KRUSE An outstanding attraction has been arranged for this evening by tho Auckland Wrestling Association, when tho famous American matman "Jumping Joe" Savoldi will meet Hob Kruso at the Town Hall, Savoldi, who will be making his first appearance in Auckland, has proved himself one of tho most spectacular wrestlers in America, mainly due to his unorthodox methods, lfe specialises in the drop-kick, a means of agression which won him the world's title two years ago. He is a thoroughly experienced opponent, and patrons of the sport in Auckland will be anxious to see him in action. Kruse is also a very fine wrestler, and he should bo capable of offering strong opposition to Savoldi. MATCHES IN SYDNEY LURICH RETAINS TITLE (Received September 13, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 13 In the heavy-weight wrestling championship of Australia, at the Sydney Stadium last evening, the title-holder, Tom Lurich. roeeived tho verdict in tho eighth round against. Ffed Atkins. Both obtained a fall early in the bout .and Lurich obtained a second fall after a fast exhibition in the final round. At the Leichhardt Stadium tho Canadian wrestler George Walker defeated A 1 Wahlberg (Denmark) with a fall from a jack-knife hold in the fifth round. In a preliminary bout Sam Rogers defeated Hob King (New Zealand). The match ended with one fall to Rogers, who finished ofT his opponent in 18 minutes. BLOMFIELD BEATS DAVIS [SY TKLKCIUrrr —I'KKSS association] DUNE DIN, Sunday Before the largest attendanco this season "Lofty" Blomficld, lOst 101b, and "Wee Willie" Davis, ISst (lib, met in a scheduled eight-rounds professional wrestling contest, Blomfiold winning by a straight fall secured in the eighth round with a head lock and body press. It was a hard, fast limit, in which straight wrestling and rough tactics were well mixed. Although in one or two of the rounds Bloinfield predominated, Ihe showmanship of the pair kept, tho croud greatly amused. After tho conclusion of flic contest they staged a brief, but exceedingly brisk ex Ira round. The police finally got theiii to their corners and the spectators dispersed perfectly satisfied that they had had their money a worth.
