WOMEN'S DIVISION

Pukckohe. —At the monthly meeting of the branch arrangements were made for the birthday celebrations to be held in October. The president, Mrs. W. Morcan, gave reports of the group meeting and of the Wnitemot.a provincial executive meeting. Miss Stephenson, of Ramarama. demonstrated spinning. The roll call was "Something to be thankful for." Mrs. A. Ingram (Bombay) judged the marmalade competition. Results were: —Shredded marmalade, Mrs. G. Johnston 1 and 2. Mrs. J. Morgan 3; ordinary marmalade, Mrs. J. W. Robinson 1. Mrs. J. Morgan 2, Miss Malcolmson 3; best bloom, Mrs. G. Johnston and Mrs. T. Morgan 1 (equal), Mrs. S. Hamilton 2. Mrs. Mahoney 3. Drtirv. —Mrs. Draper presided over the August meeting. The roll call was "My most embarrassing moment." The Dramatic Circle gave a one-act play, "That's That." Taking part were Mesdames Andrews, Johnson, Dreadon, B. Cosscy and Misses Fielding and Darwin. The competition "Best pot of marmalade," resulted: Mrs. Lound 1, Mrs. Dance 2. Mrs. Dreadon 3. Hostesses wore Mesdames Andrews. Lound and Dreadon. Malcarau. —The second birthday of the branch was celebrated with .a luncheon. Between 85 to 90 guests attended, including members from the Kaukupakapa and Wainui branches and the Kakanui institute. ' The president, Mrs. T. W. Hooper, welcomed the visitors. Mrs. Nielsen, of Auckland, gave a talk about Denmark and exhibited some wonderful examples of embroidery and tapestry which were much admired. Mrs. Osbaldiston, president of the Kaukapakapa branch, presented the Makarau branch with a beautifully dressed celluloid doll which is to be used to augment the branch funds. A piny was presented by Mrs. A. E. Cornelius, Mrs. G. I. Smith and Miss Robbie (members of the branch). Wainui. —The August meeting was held at the home of Mrs. T. B. Lamont. the president, Mrs. Rf T. Carter. presiding. Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Cutting reported items of interest from the provincial council meeting held at Auckland. The hostesses were Mrs. A. Becher and Miss Brown.
