STOP FOR BUSES

ABOVE GRAFTON BRIDGE TRIAL OF NEW POSITION A trial is to be made of a stoppingplaco for omnibuses in Symonds Street on the southern side of Grafton Bridge, instead of in the present position on the northern side of the bridge, according to a decision reached by the City Council last night. In a report on the proposed removal of the from its present, position to the southern side of the bridge, the town clerk, Mr. J. S. Brigham, stated that at a meeting of the Works Committee he. was directed to request the Legal and By-laws Committee to arrange to give the new stopping-place a trial. It was also decided that if the omnibus companies were prepared to erect a shelter-shed in the new position, the city engineer should be authorised to arrange for the widening of the footpath adjacent to the cemetery. The report was adopted.
