FULL MOURNING ENDS

LATE KING GEORGE PROCEDURE AT COURT [FROM A SPECIAL COHUKSI'ONDKNTJ LONDON, .Inly The Court went out of full mourning this week into half-mourning for King George, ami the two Royal garden 1Y '* (•options wore hold, l'roin now until alter the coronation, members of the I loyal circle arc; to be engaged in a ceaseless round of activity. The period of half-mourning lasts for three months, and during this time women of the Court wear gowns in pastel shades of lilac, grey and pale mauve. The first garden reception had special significance as the first on which women connected with the Court were seen in hall-mourning attire. Queen Mary, however, who has intimated that she will continue to observe full mourning for a time, was not present at the garden receptions, which this year take the place of Courts. Although women of the Court may. from now on, wear pale colours, the period of half-mourning makes no dilfere nee to men of the Royal circle, who continue to wear a black crepe band on the left arm when in uniform or Court dress until October 21. Men attending receptions in morning dress must not wear mourning bands. The King requested some weeks ago that debutantes and married women outside Court circles who were to be presented at the garden receptions should wear ordinary colours —but the colours were not too vivid.
