Severe frosts diminished water supply, so that most of the timo was devoted to tunnel work and necessary preparations for installing goldsaving devices at Golden Gully. The tunnel which was reopened early in July, required a considerable amount of additional excavating work, so as to assure safety from blockages in the future. Work on this job is still in progress. A considerable amount of snow has fallen, and as soon as the thaw sets in an ample water supply can be anticipated, which will permit gold production in Duffers Gully and Golden Gully simultaneously. The extension money, £124, for the month of August in connection with the option to London has been received.

Brian Boru (West Coast).—The bottom tumbler has been repaired and replaced, the new method of fitting steel wedges and studding same in position having l been used. The stacker rollers, etc., have been bushed and the driving gear has also been overhauled. The sand chutes and the main pump have been repaired The main winch is partly dismantled for the purpose of fitting a new head lino brake. Now lips are being fitted to buckets and the screen is being braced. The supervisor reports that satisfactory progress is being made, and it is expected that tho alterations and repairs will be completed about the end of August and the dredge should then be ready for a trial run. Talisman Dubbo (Karangahake).-—Period ended July 25: Dubbo level—Stoping 300 ft. to 450 ft. north. Reef ISin. of good value. The lode has split into narrow sections. From 631 ft. to 650 ft. north average width llin. of fair value. From 850 ft. to 455 ft. north, 135 ft. to 120 ft. Above level, width 16in. of good value. From 625 ft. to 645 ft. north, 53ft. above level width, lOin. of good value. Talisman, No. 1 level—From 21ft. to 60ft. south of main rise, 7oft. above level, from Oin. to 12in. wide of very good value. Winze sunk 12ft., total 54ft. below level. From 3!>ft. to 51ft. down, reef 22in. of fair value. Talisman, .No. 2 level—Drive aouth advanced 18ft. From 777 ft. to 788 ft. reef averaged 4Sin. of fair value. At 792 ft. the lode is B'jft. wide of which 12in. is clean quartz and 30in of blue-black ouarta containing much iron pyrites of low value.
